Itinerary
Our job is to get you the best photos possible. To do that, we keep the itinerary flexible so we can go to the best locations as per the weather and current conditions. The itinerary below is just an example of what you can expect.
- Day 1 (Aug 4): Arrival in Asturias, Spain. We'll being with afternoon pick-ups at the international airport, transfer to the hotel, and head out for our first sunset shoot along the famed Asturias coast.
- Day 2 (Aug 5): We hit the road early en route to our sunrise shoot along the coast. A short hike takes us down to some impressive rock formations where we can shoot the water movement as the tide moves in. We return to town for a midday break. That afternoon we explore several locations along the coast, ending with a sunset and blue hour shoot from an impressive overlook.
- Day 3 (Aug 6): For sunrise this morning we decide to head up into the mountains. The early alpenglow on the peaks is simply mesmerizing. We do a few short hikes and return for breakfast. We hold a short image critique session and then head back to the coast for our sunset shoot.
- Day 4 (Aug 7): Today is our final sunrise shoot on this side of Asturias. We choose our location carefully based on the weather. We return to town, enjoy breakfast, and check out of our hotel. We drive to the other side of Asturias to check into our next hotel where we'll be for the next 3 nights. That evening we head to the coast for an epic sunset shoot with dramatic clouds and brilliant light.
- Day 5 (Aug 8): We leave while it's still dark to get in position for first light along the coast. We shoot blue hour and the sunrise. We return to town and hold a midday post-processing session. That afternoon we head back to the mountains for a sunset shoot. With clear skies in the forecast, we stay out late to capture some Milky Way nightscapes!
- Day 6 (Aug 9): Even though it was a short night, we get up early for our sunrise shoot along the coast. We return for a much needed midday break. With clear skies again, we do a short sunset shoot and stay out late for another Milky Way opportunity.
Itinerary Cont.
- Day 7 (Aug 10): The schedule for this day will depend on how late we were out the night before and the time of our flight to Mallorca. Flight schedules have not been published this far in advance. We check out of our hotel, go to the airport, and fly south. Once we arrive in Mallorca, we visit a unique town and have a late lunch. We then drive to the hotel which will be our base for our last four nights. Our sunset shoot is up over the mountains and we have fun doing long exposures with the car light trails. If skies are clear we can stay for Milky Way.
- Day 8 (Aug 11): We photograph sunrise at a prominent lighthouse and check out one of the islands prominent castles. We take a well deserved midday break to catch up on sleep. That afternoon we'll either take a boat excursion or shoot one of the land based sunset spots.
- Day 9 (Aug 12): It's another early morning to photograph a massive rock arch along the coast. That afternoon we hold a classroom session to cover all the particulars about shooting the eclipse. We get in position mid-afternoon and wait for the celestial spectacle to unfold. It's a once in a lifetime experience to see a total eclipse near sunset!
- Day 10 (Aug 13): For sunrise we shoot a classic Mallorca lighthouse. The clouds and light are postcard perfect and we are very excited with the images we captured. That afternoon we have a longer classroom session where we cover editing techniques for your eclipse photos. For sunset, we head back to the coast. If skies are clear we'll stay out for Milky Way photos.
- Day 11 (Aug 14): We enjoy breakfast, pack up and check out of our hotel. You can plan your return travel for anytime today or you may decide to extend your trip a little longer.
