Itinerary
In the Faroe Islands, everything depends on the weather. We have a long list of great locations and we'll make day-by-day decisions on where we'll go for the best photos. The itinerary below is just an example of what you can expect.
Day 1: Arrival & Scenic Welcome
Arrive in the Faroe Islands. Airport pickups begin at noon and we get settled into our cozy accommodations which will be our base for the entire workshop. We’ll kick things off with a group orientation and a golden-hour shoot at a nearby coastal overlook with sweeping views and dynamic light.
Day 2: Epic Sea Stacks & Remote Vantage Points
We’ll explore a rugged coastal region featuring towering sea stacks rising from the Atlantic, accessible via a moderate hike. This location offers striking long-exposure opportunities. We hold a post-processing session after lunch and then go out to photograph a colorful Nordic village and a beautiful seascape.
Day 3: Cliffside Drama & Hidden Waterfalls
Today we venture to a dramatic plateau that drops off into the sea, offering powerful leading lines and depth. In the afternoon, we’ll photograph a secluded waterfall that cascades from a high mountain ridge into the ocean below—a classic Faroese scene brimming with mood and motion.
Day 4: Fjord Views & Storybook Villages
We'll photograph one of the archipelago's most scenic fjords, framed by steep peaks and dotted with traditional grass-roofed homes. This is a great day to practice minimalist compositions and intimate details, with optional hiking to gain elevated views of the surrounding inlets. In the afternoon, we'll photograph one of the tallest waterfalls in the Faroes, tumbling down a mountainside into a lush valley.
Day 5: Lighthouse Perch & Mountain Ridges
A journey to a remote promontory brings us to a picturesque lighthouse perched above dramatic cliffs. The trail offers jaw-dropping views of the sea and neighboring islands, with chances to photograph both sweeping landscapes and abstract textures shaped by centuries of wind and weather.
Day 6: Northern Peaks & Windswept Coastlines
We’ll explore a northern region known for its sharp mountain ridges and layered coastal vistas. From rugged trails to quiet, windswept beaches, the scene is ripe for black-and-white work and studies in atmosphere, scale, and isolation.
Day 7: Final Sunrise and Departure
We head out for our final sunrise shoot. After breakfast and farewells, you'll depart with a memory card full of dramatic imagery and new photographic insights. We'll drop everyone off at the airport by noon.

Logistics
You will fly into the Vagar Airport (FAE) near the town of Sørvágur. We will pick up participants at noon on Day 1. You'll be taken back to the airport by noon on Day 7. The workshop will be based in Tórshavn, a 45min drive from the airport.
All ground transport will be provided in spacious and comfortable vans. Participants are limited to one moderately sized suitcase and their camera bag.
Workshop tuition includes 6-nights lodging at a 4-star facility in Tórshavn. Single rooms are available at extra cost (see Pricing section below). The hotel provides breakfast, but there may be days when shooting priorities supercede the breakfast hours. All other meals and beverages are not included in the workshop fee.
There are many areas in the Faroe Islands where you can fly a drone. If you wish to bring a drone, it is your individual responsibility to ensure you comply with all current regulations and laws. You must be proficient in taking off, flying, and landing your drone as we cannot pilot it for you.
The Faroe Islands are remote, rugged, and harsh. The weather can change quickly, with strong winds, heavy rain, and sudden temperature drops all posing a risk when photographing. It is important to wear appropriate clothing. We will hold a zoom meeting with all participants when we're a few months out to help ensure you are well prepared. Please see the gear list futher down.
We highly recommend that each participant purchase their own travel and health insurance to cover anything unexpected. We have partnered with Squaremouth, a website that allows you to compare policies from multiple providers. If you choose not to purchase travel insurance, you are liable for any unrefundable expenses and personal medical costs.

Physical Intensity
This workshop is rated Moderate for Physical Intensity. The majority of the locations on this photo tour do not require any hiking, however, 2 locations require a short but steep hike (15 - 30 minutes depending on pace), and 2 locations require longer but relatively flat hikes to reach the optimal shooting spot. These hikes are optional as most locations offer an alternative spot to shoot from that does not require hiking.
Important - We plan to get to Drangarnir by boat to help us avoid the longest hike (Both to conserve energy, but also to save time), however, if we are unable to take the boat due to adverse sea conditions, we may need to hike to get to Drangarnir, but it’s definitely worth it!
The few hikes that we will do vary in distance and elevation gain, none of them require you to be an athlete, however, it is expected that you are in good health. This photo tour is not recommended for anyone who suffers from heart conditions, mobility issues, or any other conditions that prevent them from hiking safely. If you have any concerns over the hikes and would prefer to skip them, you are welcome to do so, in most locations, you can get great images from close to the parking area.
Some of the locations we visit have a significant amount of exposure as we will be shooting around cliffs, if any location is out of your comfort zone, you are welcome to shoot from near the parking area, stay at hotel to rest, or wait until we get to another location which is more suited to your ability/comfort level.

Artist's Statement: Through all of my wanderings, photography has remained a constant, providing the creative link between my passion for adventure and the outdoors. I will never get enough of that “Wow!” feeling when I see a stunning image rendered on my camera’s LCD and helping guide others to that same experience is the bacon in the beans for me. I am excited to start working with Action Photo Tours. Everything about their instructors, locations, deep research, proficiency and stop-at-nothing vibe shows me that I have found the company where we can all grow and have countless “wow” moments together.
From the inseparable experience of unity, the camera is not something I “look at” the world through it is an opportunity to see something in myself. Photographs are no longer lost extractions of time; they become holographic reflections of the precious whole in every part. I love to guide those passionate about photography and those wanting to celebrate the extraordinary beauty of nature. If you seek a deeper connection with yourself and the astonishing beauty of our planet, I invite you to embark on this journey of creative discovery. I seamlessly weave together the technical and artistic dimensions of photography and help students learn to cultivate a greater level of presence, perception, and perspective. I have endless patience for those who genuinely seek to unlock their unique creative brilliance and transform their passion into pixels.
Photography has been a transformative experience of Self-discovery more than it has been about great image-making. The interior landscapes of my Soul have been the primary territory of my exploration. From a place within, the landscapes and creatures of our great planet have provided amazing opportunities to learn about myself and my connection to the world.
