Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya (airport code NBO). You will be greeted by a personal escort who will expedite you through passport control and ensure you get to the hotel quickly.
- Day 2: The workshop begins with a Meet and Greet at breakfast and then we load up for the drive to Amboseli National Park. We check into our lodge and head out for an evening safari drive.
- Day 3: We spend our day photographing wildlife in Amboseli National Park with the imposing Mt Kilimanjaro as our backdrop. Expect to find species such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, and flamingos.
- Day 4: We enjoy our last morning with the wildlife in Amboseli and then it's back to the airstrip for our charter flight into the Great Rift Valley. We check into our luxury accommodations, with a brand new night hide designed to capture animals against the starry skies!
- Days 5-6: We have 3 total nights at the sunken hides. After lunch, we have the option to take flight in an open-door helicopter (not included in base price) above Lake Magadi to photograph flocks of flamingos as they fly over the beautiful multicolored swirls. We also can do aerial wildlife photography at sunset with the long shadows across the ground. As the light retreats, we head to our sunken hide and have our cameras ready for some special sightings as we photograph deep into the nighttime hours.
- Day 7: We leave the Great Rift Valley and take a charter flight to the Masai Mara. We check into our lodging which is booked last minute so we are central to the best wildlife activity zones. After lunch, we head out on a wildlife safari drive.
- Days 8-11: We have 4 full days to spend in the Masai Mara. March is the prelude to the rainy season, so expect lots of dramatic skies and interesting weather! We'll be on the lookout for any big cat hunting activities. If you're lucky, you'll be able to photograph a hunting sequence! We'll use the middle part of the day for post-processing education.
- Day 12: After a morning safari and late breakfast, we pack up and board our charter flight back to Nairobi. A day-room will be provided for all participants where you can shower, re-pack, and rest before your international flight in the evening.

Logistics
Plan to arrive in Nairobi, Kenya anytime on or before Day 1. Most international flights arrive in the evening and a hotel room will be provided for all participants. We will meet together as a group at breakfast on Day 2.
Return travel can be scheduled anytime after 4PM on Day 12. Most international flights leave late at night from Nairobi. You will have a day room at the hotel to use from 1-8PM on Day 12.
We strongly recommend that all participants purchase their own Travel Insurance. The proper policy will cover things like last-minute cancellations, medical emergencies, and any non-refundable fees connected to the workshop.
This workshop includes accommodations only on Day 1 and is all-inclusive from Day 2 onward (transportation, meals, and accommodations). If you book as a single participant but want double occupancy, we will attempt to pair you with another participant of the same gender. If that is not possible, you will be asked to pay the single supplement.
* Jeffrey Wu and Wendy Casey will be instructing the workshop in the Masai Mara and Lake Magadi. In Amboseli, Rohan Shah (an international award-winning photographer) and Wendy Casey will be the instructors.
The helicopter aerial photography over Lake Magadi is optional and will be paid separately to the helicopter company. The exact price will vary. Please see the Aerial Photography section below.
When we are a few months out, we'll set up a Zoom meeting to discuss gear and pre-trip planning. You will receive additional information via email to ensure you are set up for a successful and memorable trip!

Aerial Photography
The helicopter aerial photography over Lake Magadi is optional and fees will be paid separately to the helicopter operator. We will fly in an open-door helicopter with 2 participants on the shooting side of the aircraft. One instructor will accompany you on the other side of the aircraft. We hope to capture the exquisite patterns over Lake Magadi, often accompanied by flamingos in flight! We also hope to take some sunset flights over wildlife with their long shadows stretching across the landscapes.
Aerial photography is not for everyone. If you are prone to motion sickness or have fear of heights, we would advise against going up. If you do not fly, there is still plenty to do, especially since we will be up all night long photographing in the sunken hide. Also, flying is contingent upon the weather. However, it is unlikely we'd get weathered out two days in a row.
For the best results, we recommend 3 flight hours per person.
The exact price may vary depending on fuel costs, how many hours you want to fly, and how many group members decide to participate. At the time of writing, prices are as follows:
Entire Group Flying Time:
- 3-6 Hours: $850/person/hour
- 7-10 Hours: $800/person/hour
- 11+ Hours: $750/person/hour

Wendy Casey
Wendy is proud to be a Utah Native and began hiking and camping with her parents at a very young age. She has many fond memories hiking to amazing viewpoints and taking in the grandeur that is Utah. Her interest in photography began in the 80’s where she made her film images come to life in a darkroom.
She now enjoys the creativity of the digital world by photographing a wide range of interests, from Landscape, Wildlife, Portraits, to Sports. Her favorite is capturing epic scenery with a human interest.
When Wendy and her husband Randy are not at home on their farm, they are out on a trail somewhere, exploring, photographing and creating videos of their adventures. Wendy has a lot of experience with horses on their ranch and will be an instructor on some of our wild horse and ranch workshops.
Over the years, she has participated in many art shows. Her local favorites are the Kimball Arts, Park City Art Festival and Midway Swiss Days. She has shipped her art around the world and has her work hanging throughout the state in hospitals, clinics and many large and small businesses. Her images have also been featured in and on the covers of local magazines.
Wendy loves to help others develop their passion for photography and capture through the viewfinder, winning scenes to last forever and an epic story to go with it.
