The Wanaka Tree

A long exposure helped to smooth out the water at Lake Wanaka in the pre-dawn hours. There were many birds in the Wanaka Tree that hadn't quite woken up yet! We offer many photo tours for beginners up to advanced users. Come explore some new places and expand your photo skills!

Desert Spires

This shot was taken during twilight in Utah's Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. We love finding interesting and fresh compositions for our workshop participants. A few clouds were lit up to camera right and were casting a nice red glow on the rocks. The sky was a deep, intense blue color.  Learn more about our photo tours and workshops by clicking the button below!

Toroweap Sunrise

In our opinion, Toroweap is one of the most impressive views in the entire Grand Canyon. It's one of few spots you can look directly down to the Colorado River. For this shot, we used a wide-open aperture to achieve a nice glow effect from the sun rather than a sunburst. We offer photo tours out to Toroweap on a regular basis. Leave the difficult driving to us and let us help you take the best photos possible!

Cerulean Lake

This is a classic view from the Nublet showcasing Cerulean Lake surrounded by golden larch trees. Mt Assiniboine is seen in the background. This is one of our favorite places in the Canadian Rockies and is totally worth the long hike or helicopter ride to access. Would you like to improve your photography? Piggyback

If you like bears, you need to get up to Alaska! We took this photo in the McNeil River Sanctuary that's administered by the state. If you are lucky enough to get a permit, you'll get 4-5 days of up-close bear viewing accompanied by a ranger. In this shot, the cub got scared since there were some male bears approaching the river to fish. The cub jumped on mom's back to get a better view. We love teaching photography to both beginners and advanced users alike. Please visit our website to book your next photo adventure!

Sunburst

A beautiful morning at the Totem Pole and Yei Bi Chei in Monument Valley. It had been quite wet that year, so there was a good amount of greenery. In fact, the famous sand dunes didn't even have ripples and were completely overgrown with vegetation. But we were really happy with the beautiful sunrise we got! North Rim Tranquility

This is a very remote spot along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It's outside the National Park so you won't find crowds and you can camp virtually anywhere you like. This is the part of the Grand Canyon we like to visit and we'd love to help you get off the beaten path too! We offer regular photo tours on the north side of the Grand Canyon. The Subway at Night

Night photos don't always need to show the sky. This is a shot we had envisioned for some time. To pull it off, we hauled 5 tripods, 5 lights, wetsuits, lots of dry bags, and other accessories down to the Subway in Zion NP. We got there a little before sunset and started planning our lighting strategy. We went under the water and pinned lights to the bottom under stones. It took us some time before we got it right. But the effect was magical in the end. Would you like to do night photography? We offer all kinds of night photography tours - book today!!

Lone Larch

A lone larch tree sits atop the Opabin Plateau overlooking Lake O'Hara at sunrise.  You have to get a permit to overnight camp in this area and it's definitely worth going through the hassle.  During the fall, this is one of the most magical areas of the Canadian Rockies!  The golden larch color with the deep turquoise blue of the various lakes is quite impressive.  Do you want to improve your landscape photography skills? You've come to the right place. Check out our photo tours, workshops, and post-processing instruction that we offer!

Big Springs

Big Springs is a pretty impressive sight when hiking the Zion Narrows. It comes gushing out of the cliff with an amazing amount of water. We offer regular photo tours into Zion, Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, and much more!  Professional photography instruction is included on all tours!

Trillium Lake

Trillium Lake affords one of the most iconic views of Mt Hood.  Make sure you go on a day with little wind so you can get the reflection!  On this day, we had tried to climb Mt Hood in the morning.  After several hours of pouring rain and wind, we bailed on the climb and came out to Trillium Lake for an amazing sunset.  We offer many photo tours for beginners up to advanced users. Come explore some new places and expand your photo skills!

Ship Creek

While in New Zealand, we hiked through many miles of temperate forest. Although it was very beautiful, it wasn't easy to capture with the camera. Most of the time, the forest scenes just looked too busy and flat to the camera. By including part of a trail through this forest along with some sunrise light in the background, we got an image that worked. All the ferns you see are actually tree ferns. Are you interested in improving your photography? Now is the time to book a photo tour with us!

Bandon at Night

Bandon is one of the most iconic beaches along the Oregon Coast.  For this shot, we went out well before dawn on a moonless night.  Street lights from the nearby town lit up the seastacks and blue hour light began to illuminate the clouds.  The light you see on the horizon is actually a boat!  Would you like to improve your photography? Chief Joseph

Storm Over Utah Lake

While driving, we noticed some neat storm clouds brewing over Utah Lake. We took a quick detour hoping to catch some sunset color. With the wind blowing as hard as it was, we used a 10-stop ND filter to achieve a 1-minute exposure to smooth out the water. We specialize in photography tours and workshops aimed specifically at improving your photo skills. Learn more about our tours below and book today!

Punchbowl Falls

Not to be confused with the Punchbowl Falls in Oregon, these falls are found in Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies.  To get this shot, we elected to stand back a little ways and use some telephoto compression.  We offer many photo tours for beginners up to advanced users.
